This Privacy Policy explains what information Flock collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Flock, you agree to the practices described below.
About us
Flock is a community discovery platform operated from Australia. If you have questions about your privacy or this policy, email hello@findyourflock.co.
Information we collect
We collect information in a few different ways:
- Account details; when you sign up, we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider (Clerk). You may also choose to sign in with Google.
- Profile information; if you build a profile, you may share details like your bio, interests, values, location, skills, LinkedIn or portfolio links, phone number, what you’re looking for, and whether you’d like to be visible to community organisers.
- Quiz and matching responses; if you complete the matching quiz, we collect your answers so we can recommend communities you might love.
- Activity in the app; saved communities, invites sent or received, and other interactions inside Flock.
- Payment information; if you subscribe, payments are handled by our payment provider. We don’t see or store your card details; only basic subscription status.
- Usage data; anonymous analytics about how people use Flock (pages visited, device type, approximate location) collected through Vercel Analytics.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- run your account and keep you signed in
- match you with relevant communities and events
- let community organisers invite you (only if you’ve opted in)
- process and manage your subscription
- improve the product, fix bugs, and understand how Flock is used
- send you in-app notifications about invites and activity
- respond to your messages and support requests
How matching works
To recommend communities, your quiz responses and basic profile signals are sent to Google’s Gemini AI model for matching. We don’t share your contact details with the AI, and we don’t use this data to train any external model.
Who we share information with
We don’t sell your data. We share information only with the service providers needed to run Flock:
- Clerk; authentication and account management
- Airtable; secure storage of profile and listing data
- Our payment provider; processes payments and manages subscriptions
- Vercel; hosting and anonymous analytics
- Google (Gemini); AI-powered community matching
We may also share information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer.
Community visibility
By default, your profile is private. If you opt in to be visible to community organisers, the information you’ve added to your profile may be shown to organisers searching for members. You can opt out of this at any time from your profile settings.
Cookies and similar technologies
Flock uses cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time, but doing so may sign you out and reset your saved preferences.
Data retention
We keep your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we’ll remove your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we need to keep it for legal, billing, or security reasons.
Your rights and choices
You can:
- access, update, or correct your profile information at any time
- opt out of being visible to community organisers
- cancel your subscription from your account
- request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it by emailing hello@findyourflock.co
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws (for example, the Australian Privacy Act, GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA). Contact us if you’d like to exercise any of these rights.
Children
Flock isn’t intended for people under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, please contact us and we’ll remove the account.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no online service is 100% secure. If you spot a security issue, please let us know.
International users
Flock is operated from Australia and used by people in different countries. By using Flock, you understand that your information may be processed in countries other than the one you live in, including by the service providers listed above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Flock evolves. Continued use of the service means you accept the latest version.
